Busi Zokufa joins 'Generations'

SA actress, Busi Zokufa has joined the cast of South Africa's most watched soapie, 'Generations'.

This will be the actresses first soapie role in her 25 years of acting in the theatre, film and television.

The Eastern Cape born actress plays Beatrice Memela in the SABC 1 soapie.

She says she is excited to finally appear in a soapie at her age.

She told Sowetan: "I am excited about the role, but I am not sure how to react when people mob me. Coming from a stage background this is a new thing," she says.

She defines Beatrice as a very educated woman from Matatiele in Eastern Cape. She is also very strict and overprotective of her family.

Zokufa says told the newspaper it has been challenging to adjust to the role. The musician and well known-puppeteer, says she loves theatre because actors can explore their roles the way they wish, but in soapies there are lots of restrictions.

"I've acted in TV and film, but soapies are very restricting. The environment loses you for a while, but as time progresses you get better. The directors help you tone down your voice," she says.
The experienced actress recently returned from London where she was doing a puppet show.

Zokufa's career began in 1987 when she joined Sibikwa Players in Daveyton on the East Rand.

Her first stage show, 'So Where To?', that was staged at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg also toured abroad.
