'Spirit of the Assassin' screens in SA
On 24 August 2012, Ster-Kinekor will release 'Spirit of the Assassin' and the film will be screened exclusively at selected Ster-Kinekor Theatres.
'Spirit of the Assassin (The Talisman)' is an action packed adventure film. Andy Boyo plays a man who was once the most feared, high-profile assassin, who today prowls the earth by inhabiting a wide range of violent characters. It is up to a descendant, Frederick Leornard and a policeman - played by the lead actor, Yemi Blaq - to battle an enemy that always seems to come back.
Ster-Kinekor Theatres has been running a Nollywood ‘festival’ over the past two months, bringing audiences the latest in Nollywood content. Nollywood is Nigeria’s Hollywood and produces films that have become a world phenomenon, screening across the globe from the USA to South Africa. In just a few years Nollywood has managed to transform itself into a million dollar industry, making it the second largest film industry in the world.
This film can be seen at Ster-Kinekor Theatres in Gauteng at Carlton, Sterland and Maponya, as well as at Cape Town's Parow Centre, Gateway in Kwa-Zulu Natal, in Lesotho at Pioneer and in Zambia at Arcades.
The mini-festival has featured boundary-breaking titles from Nigeria including 'Untamed', which opened on 10 August, 'Off the Hook' and 'Inale' which opened on 27 July.
The films feature on-screen talent from Patience Ozokwor, Van Vicker, Chinwe Isaac, Deborah King and a host of others who are very well respected in the world of film in Nigeria. The premiere for the film took place at Maponya Mall in Soweto, Johannesburg.
